Triple Offset Butterfly Valves

Triple Offset Butterfly Valves

butterfly valves triple offset valves are efficient and durable in high pressure, temperature conditions and offer effective sealing features. They are also safe to operate. However, this type of valve requires proper installation and regular maintenance to ensure it functions properly. Incorrect installation could cause damage to the sealing components.

This valve is suitable for use in a variety of applications, especially those with abrasive materials and higher temperatures. It can be used in industrial processes, including oil and gas processing, refining, power generation, water treatment and other similar tasks.

Triple Offset vs. Double Offset Butterfly Valves: Which Is Right for You

In the closed position, the disc of a triple offset butterfly valve remains perpendicular to the flow direction and is sealed by the valve seat that’s made of metal or non-metallic material. When the handle is turned, the stem connected to the disc moves apart from the seat and positions itself in parallel with the flow direction. As the valve opens, the stem and disc rotate around the same axis to throttle the flow.

One of the most important advantages of a triple-offset valve is that it offers a metal-to-metal seal, which provides bubble-tight shutoff with zero leakage performance. It is a better alternative to valves that utilize elastomers, which may degrade due to changes in temperature or other environmental conditions.

The angled design of the seat and disc is another key advantage of this type of valve. It minimizes the chances of the seat getting stuck to the disc and reduces operating torque. This also helps in reducing the friction between the disc and seat, which can result in longer service time for the valve and a decrease in maintenance requirements.
